About me

I’m a 17-year-old filmmaker and photographer based in Dakar, currently in the IB Diploma Program (Class of 2027).

I grew up messing around with my dad’s old Sony point-and-shoot, but back then it was just a fun toy. Things changed when I started taking filmmaking seriously. I spent a lot of time learning how to put a scene together and get the right look on video before I ever really picked up a camera for photography.

When I got my own camera, a Sony ZV-E10, I started practicing photography with that same focus. Most of what I know comes from trial and error; I like messing with settings to see what actually works. Whether I’m shooting school or outside sports, street life in Senegal, or traveling, I just want to document things as I see them.

My time at UCLA and NYFA summer programs helped me move past the 'messing around' phase and build a better technical foundation.​

I also play sports and guitar, and that definitely helps me understand the energy of a game or the rhythm of what I’m filming. I'm not trying to be perfect or stay in one lane; I just want to keep using my camera to stay connected to what I enjoy and capture it.
